OPTO-MECHANICAL ENGINEER

n&k Technology, headquartered in San Jose, California, is a leading manufacturer of advanced metrology systems for semiconductor industry.

n&k Technology is seeking an Opto-Mechanical engineer focused on product development who will design, build, and test mechanical and electronic subsystems for integration into various metrology tools. Tasks will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Participation as a member of the development team to bring various projects from the prototyping stage to the product stage
  • Independently drive assigned development projects within a defined scope
  • Develop, design, build, and test complex mechanical, optical, temperature control, and electronic systems
  • Propose, plan, and execute various experiments related to given projects
  • Write and present reports
  • Create machine drawings of designed parts
  • Closely work with various machine shops for part fabrication
  • Write documentation.
 

Knowledge of mechanics, control system engineering, GD&T, mechatronics, optics, and electronics are desired. Experience with various metrology techniques such as Reflectometry, Scatterometry, and Ellipsometry are considered beneficial.

ENGINEER FOR SEMICONDUCTOR METROLOGY

n&k Technology, headquartered in San Jose, California, manufactures advanced, fully automated test equipment used in the Semiconductor Industry.

n&k Technology is seeking a recent graduate for the position of Application Engineer. The engineer will work with our R&D, manufacturing, and service teams to provide technical solutions for a growing and dynamic industry. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing measurement data, hands-on testing of hardware and software, and writing technical reports. Occasional visits to customer sites, within the United States and internationally, is also part of the job.

BS in Physics, Materials Science, Engineering, or related fields is required. The successful candidate must be an energetic, well-organized team player with excellent written and oral communication skills. General knowledge of semiconductor fabrication and basic optics is considered an asset.

R&D TECHNICIAN

n&k Technology is seeking a Research and Development (R&D) technician who will mainly assist experienced and senior engineers with R&D-related tasks which can include but not limited to the following:

  • Plan out and perform experimentations related to optical design, mechanical design, and temperature control
  • Perform failure analysis on critical optical components
  • Work with Application engineers to characterize optical systems
  • Participate in group meetings and present gathered test results
  • Build mechanical assemblies as needed to perform experimentations
  • QC incoming critical optical components and suggest ideas of improving quality control of those components
  • Occasionally perform other non R&D-related tasks such as QC incoming machined parts and components, building mechanical assemblies, and assisting other engineers with any engineering-related tasks
 

Knowledge of optics, electronics, and mechanics is desirable. ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

n&k Technology is seeking an Electrical Engineer who will participate in the integration, testing, and shipment of n&k Technology’s products.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with OrCAD and other circuit design software
  • Simple/Basic PC board circuit design
  • Working with EMI, electronic / thermal / frequency signal noise, motion control, robotics
  • Evaluation of electrical products, components, and applications to ensure they meet specific standards and codes
  • Working with manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications for various electrical products

OPTICAL ENGINEERING CONSULTANT

n&k Technology is seeking a very dedicated optical engineering consultant who will be called upon, if needed, to participate in the company’s most challenging R&D projects related to optical design, analysis, and prototyping.

Responsibilities include:

  • To lead a team of young engineers through challenging optical-design projects and to provide clear guidance
  • To perform in-depth optical simulation and analysis and to provide recommendations for system improvement
  • To build optical mockups on a bench for proof of concept
  • To perform simple to sophisticated optical alignment
  • Be able to source out reliable and good-quality vendors for optical components
  • Close cooperation with mechanical and electrical engineers
  • Performing and documenting engineering tests
 

Strong knowledge and interest in optics is a must. Prior job experience related to optical science is required. Some knowledge in mechanics and electronics is preferred. Applicants must be familiar with spectrophotometry, laser spectroscopy, interferometry, fiber-coupling, terahertz systems, etc. Applicants must also be proficient in the most-common optical design and ray-tracing software such as Zemax and FRED. The successful candidate must be able to think outside the box and be self-motivated and self-confident in leading the team to successful completion of each project.
